Creating a Sticky Childhood
I know that you are probably
reading this title thinking "Hey my kids are sticky right now. They are covered in Syrup or
Peaches or whatever" No that is not the sticky I mean.
At my old job once a quarter
the head honchos would come and visit us lowly workers. We would have a two-hour
meeting where they basically fluffed us and got us energized to make it through
the next quarter. These meeting always
came right as morale was going down. It was always the time of the quarter
where things have gotten boring.
Well at the last quarterly
meeting, the "Top Dog" was talking about “Creating a Sticky Experience” for the client. Every interaction should be meaningful and stick with them. At
the time of this meeting I didn’t get it. Now that I have
had sometime to reflect I know this carries over to my new job "Mommy CEO". My
job is to create Sticky Experiences for my boys. I want to do things that they
can remember and will stay with them forever.
When they do leave the nest
what things will they remember? I’m sure that they remember big things like
trips to Disney or Lego Land. But they also remember little things like the
times we paid the toll for the car behind us. He remembers the time Dad brought a
pizza for the hungry family. That time we helped Grandpa paint his house.
I want to make sure that I
do things in my everyday life that are creating the right kind of sticky
experiences for my kids. I want to teach them to pay it forward. It is so
important.
Ask your kids about their
favorite times with Mom and Dad? Comment Below what they said.
First let me just say I miss you girl...This blog is fantastic. I just asked Antonio what was his favorite memory from childhood so far and he said " seeing my baby
ReplyDeletebrother for the first time...Love my boys we
are so lucky to have amazing boys.
Happy Birthday Missy!! I Miss you too!!!!!! Awww Antonio is so sweet! He really loves his brother, I hope my boys are close when they are older.
DeleteAs I asked my son what his favorite experience was he stated there were way too many..so I guess that's a good thing then he finally said going to Seaworld and playing on the cargo nets for hours! The next day I had bruises all over my legs! Glad he had fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks for Commenting! Something about SeaWorld that kids just remember. Steven hasn't been since he was three but he remembers it like it was yesterday. Always money well spent. LOL
